TARA Detox facilitates detoxification of drug addicts and alcoholics at Thamkrabok Monastery, Thailand.

We use motivational interviewing, craniosacral therapy and acu-detox (acupuncture) in England.  This is combined with a rapid detox using natural herbal medicines and Buddhist psychology during a minimum 11-day rehabilitation stay at the Thamkrabok Monastery.

The TARA Detox programme is a total abstinence programme based on the Buddhist belief that the root of all our suffering comes from craving.   Addicts ~ eventually ~ come to know this better than anyone.

Our programme requires addicts to to take a vow (Sajja) to "...undertake to refrain from taking intoxicating drinks and drugs which lead to carelessness".

Prospective Treatment Schedules

Programmes are tailored to suit individual needs, circumstances and suitability. For example, TARA Detox treatment schedules can last from 11 to 21-days and costs may vary from approximately GBP 2750.00 for the 11-day programme up to approximately GBP 4250.00 for the full 21-day programme.

Each program is individually priced to take account of personal circumstances and the services being provided.

TARA reserves the right to alter programme dates/prices at short notice.

Cost includes the following:

• Initial processing and assessment interview(s). Treatment preparation briefing session(s).
• Counselling (face to face and/or by telephone) before and after detoxification in Thailand.
• Acudetox sessions, before and after detoxification, if and as appropriate.
• Instruction in Anapanasati (breathing with mindfulness) meditation practice.
• Fully escorted return travel to Thamkrabok Monastery in Thailand (including all overseas transfers).
• Accommodation, food and treatment (including a donation) at the Thamkrabok Monastery.
• Services of a TARA representative throughout the treatment program in Thailand.

Cost does not include:

• Travel insurance.
• Vaccinations.
• Thai massage sessions if requested.
